Like most children growing up in the industrial north of England—or most places really—I loved my Tonka trucks. It could dig, and carry, and dig, and get wet, and dig stuff. I don't really remember being sold on any advertising from them though. I mean, they're big, clunky, metal, and yellow. They sold themselves to the infant Hamish.
DDB, in Sydney, Australia, recently produced a wonderful campaign for the classic truck. Seemingly aimed more for the paying parents than the kids themselves, they're a great new approach to advertising children's toys.
